Shaving your face?! What?
SHAVING YOUR FACE?! WHAT?
The Coucou Dermaplaning Exfoliator explained.
Yep, it’s a thing. An extremely smoothing thing. Shaving your face sounds scary much? It’s not. Simply put, Dermaplaning is a form of exfoliation removing the top layer of your face (the epidermis) by scraping it off with a blade. Even though the blade can be sharp, it’s completely pain-free and no down-time is needed: You can easily walk out the door right after your dermaplaning session! Do wear SPF afterwards, since your skin can be sensitive to sunlight and heat.
Why do we love it?
With our carefully picked blades, you can easily and safely perform the popular dermaplaning treatment in the comfort of your own home. It removes dead skin cells and baby facial hair (aka peach fuzz) showing immediate, very satisfying results after just one use. Removing dead skin cells allows your skincare to absorb into your skin better and over time reduces hyperpigmentation and acne scars - leaving skin brighter and smoother. See it as a great alternative to a chemical peel including peach fuzz removal. Removing your peach fuzz leaves your face with that “Glazed Doughnut'' look while your makeup will apply more evenly and look super duper smooth. Benefit on benefit on benefit.
One of the biggest myths about dermaplaning is that your hair will grow back thicker or darker. Nothing to worry about! The only way to affect hair growth is to alter the root of the hair as that’s where the hair is created. This non-invasive exfoliating treatment works on the surface of the skin, making it scientifically impossible to affect the root. Important to keep in mind that shaving your hair does not affect hair growth either. BUT, after shaving, your natural and soft hair may tend to feel more thick or coarse. Dermaplaning is different. With dermaplaning, you don’t cut the hair straight across like with shaving, but at an angle. In this way, the end of each hair is soft rather than sharp. When it grows back, it will be soft right away!
How to use it?
The tool includes 3 stainless steel hygienic replaceable blades, which can be used about 3-4 times. If used once a month, the Coucou Dermaplaning Exfoliator lasts up to a year! Always use the tool on clean and dry skin, and only when your skin is ready for exfoliation. Don’t overdo it. You are allowed to scrape on your cheeks, chin, upper lip, and forehead. Please do NOT scrape on lips, nose, eyelids, brows, injured or irritated skin, skin with active acne and blemishes. We highly recommend avoiding combining dermaplaning with other exfoliation methods like scrubs and peels - it’s best to wait at least 24 hours before using an additional exfoliation treatment. The best part? When you follow up with your favorite serum, oil or moisturizer. We can assure you, you want to run off to everybody in the house to let them feel how soft your skin is!
The technique
Use one hand to hold the skin in the area your treating taut. With the other hand, you hold the tool at a 45-degree angle. Always make downwards strokes and make sure the strokes are very short and gentle. Make sure you have a firm grip, but don’t apply any pressure. Avoid going over the same area twice. Disinfect blades before storing in a dry place. For optimal hygiene, replace blade after 3-4 uses.
Good luck!
