Joanna Vargas, known as Hollywood's secret to glowing, healthy, red-carpet ready skin. This Mexican-American skincare maven, who owns salons in New york and Los Angeles, knew that she wanted to focus on teaching women to strive to be the best versions of themselves. She’s been doing facials for almost 20 years and educates women about their skin. She created her own product line because she couldn’t help every woman around the world in her own salon. Now everyone can get beautiful skin even if you’re not based in LA or NYC. (Lucky you!)
Why and how did you start Joanna Vargas Skincare?
I moved to New York wanting to be a fashion photographer. The second I found the beauty industry, I was hooked. And I never look back. When I opened my salon in 2006, I knew that I wanted to focus on teaching women we could strive to be the best version of ourselves by doing things in a non-invasive way. I wanted the facials to be so special that my clients would leave their treatments so happy that they would tell their friends about it. My focus has always been about using cutting-edge technology and results-driven treatments. I developed my own skincare collection in 2011 because I wanted good nutrition for the skin and products that multitask when I use them. All the products in my line do a variety of things and are made for everyone – they are the foundation for healthy skin!
What distinguishes Joanna Vargas Skincare from what's already out there?
As I created my skincare line, I wanted my products to be luxurious in experience and for clients to feel like they were getting a piece of my spa services with every use. Results, of course, were my goal with every formula. All the products in my line do a variety of things and are made for everyone – they truly are the foundation for healthy skin!
Who or what is your biggest inspiration?
I usually draw inspiration from my clients! I’ve been doing facials for almost 20 years and I have a tendency to hear about the same concerns from women all over the world. Every client has their own personal story with their skin, but most people think your skin is about your DNA. Part of what I do is educate my clients and explain that your skin is telling a story about what’s happening inside your body or happening in your life. I get lots of DMs from people all over asking questions, so I wanted to create a product line, so that even if I never meet them or if they’re not based in LA or NYC to come into my salon, they can still get beautiful skin.
